This week is always a busy and meaningful time as we focus on the true message of Easter with both our church community and the students at the school.
Last Friday, the youth group traveled into the city to watch an Easter drama. Of course, we made a stop at Pizza Hut on the way! The church there always does an incredible job presenting the drama, leading in worship, and sharing the Gospel. We were especially grateful to see one of our youth accept Jesus Christ!
On Sunday, our church loaded buses at 4:30 a.m. to attend a special service at another church in the city. Why so early? The service began at 7:00 a.m., and the place was completely full—standing room only! They held two services, and we attended the first. It was a powerful time, and everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
This week at school, the students are taking a break from academics to focus on Easter activities. They are participating in dramas, singing songs, playing games, and art projects that all centered on the cross, the resurrection, and the message of salvation. Of course, we will end the week with an Easter Egg Hunt and Splash Day!
Yesterday, I stood at the school and watched the middle school students present a drama about the life of Jesus. In the background, I could hear the elementary students joyfully singing, “Celebrate Jesus Celebrate!” It was a beautiful reminder that while all these activities are meaningful, Jesus is our ultimate focus.
Today, parents will come to watch their children perform in the Easter program. Please pray that lives will be touched and changed for eternity.
You can always tell it’s a week of celebration when we treat the children to sweet bread and cokes! We’ve made the menu extra special this week. Today, they’ll enjoy McDonald’s, nachos with cheese, and cokes. In addition, families will receive food to help sustain them through our Easter break.
