Who had the idea to have a pastor’s conference, revival at Iglesia JET, 3 graduation ceremonies, and a Senior trip within an 11 day time frame?!

We just enjoyed a week making lots of memories with our Seniors!   We left the mountain at 3:30am on Monday with 17 excited students.   I gave them a packing list but I really believe they brought every piece of clothing they own.  Our vans were loaded down for a week of traveling!

This was a trip of a lifetime for them as most of our students have only traveled as far as the city with us.

Here is a quick recap of our week:

On Monday, we traveled 12 hours to Isla de Flores.  We enjoyed supper at a very nice restaurant that is only accessible by boat.  Of course, they ended the day with a late night swim.   On Tuesday, they drove an hour to Tikal to the Mayan Ruins.   If you love history then you would enjoy it.  If you like climbing lots of steep stairs, walking several miles, and extreme heat then you would love this experience!  Our students enjoyed it but they were wore out by the end of the day.  On Wednesday, we drove another 2 hours to visit the Blue Craters.   We traveled by boat to a swimming hole that has crystal clear, pristine water.   The water was cold, but absolutely beautiful.   We left the Blue Craters and traveled another 2 hours to Coban.   After a late supper, the students fell asleep quickly.   On Thursday, we rode another 2 hours to Semuc Champey.  Everyone needs to experience the beauty of this area.   Semuc Champey consists of a 980 feet limestone bridge under which passes the Cahabón River.  There is series of tiered turquoise pools that are absolutely gorgeous.  The students hiked a very steep climb to see a panoramic view of the pools.   It is a very challenging hike, but worth it.  After Semuc, we drove another 3 hours to stay at a hotel near Coban.  We enjoyed Thursday night with a late supper and time to just relax.   Friday morning was spent by the pool, walking around the beautiful gardens, and catching up on some much needed sleep.  On Friday afternoon, we traveled about 8 hours to arrive home in El Tejar.  The students returned home tired, but happy to have such a wonderful trip.

In only 5 days, the students spent 30+ hours in a van, enjoyed 12 meals together, 3 memorable excursions, and slept in 3 nice hotels.  I wish that I could bottle up the laughter and send it to each ofyou.

A huge thank you to our drivers, Hector, Chino, Bryan, and Julio!   The trip would not be possible without the drivers, and the terrain is difficult to drive, especially in a standard van.

If you bought anything from the “Grace Market” or the “JET Tienda”—Thank You!    We used the proceeds to help fund this trip.  The students are extremely appreciative for your donation towards the trip.
