Sweet Ingrid

Ingrid became part of our family as soon as we landed in Guatemala in June 2017!   We had known her family for many years and we needed a babysitter.   She only spoke basic English, but she was someone that we could trust.   She became much more than our babysitter.  She became part of our family.    Many of you...

You are Invited!

We are beyond excited for our first Colegio J.E.T. High School Graduation!   So many of you have watched God bless us from a small feeding program to an accredited school.   You have encouraged us, prayed for us, worked along side us, and celebrated with us.   We would love for those of you...

Four Weeks!

We blinked and the first four summer groups have come and gone!   The days always seem to fly by as there are lots of activities on the mountain.  Exactly how much work can be accomplished in 4 short weeks?   How many people can be impacted?  How many needs can be met?    There...

Reflection!

Children are honest.   Teenagers are honest.   If I ever feel like my life is coming together then I just ask my teenage/pre-teen daughters to evaluate me as a mother.  All of the sudden I go from feeling like mother of the year to wondering how I even function in the real world.  ...

No Time to Speak!

Although, I help coordinate some of the logistics for the teams, the teams are self-sufficient.  The only teams that I “lead” are the ones coordinated by my dad.   These weeks seem to move at a rapid pace and we never have people complaining about too much down time.    After one of the trips,...

Give!

I have a love for the students, teachers, and workers at Colegio JET and Grace Ministries that cannot be explained.   I am not a person who freely gives affirmation so I worry that they do not truly understand how much I love and admire them.  They teach me so many lessons about serving, giving,...

Break Me!

Soy and I spent a summer in Guatemala seeking direction from the Lord.  Many people have heard me say that Guatemala was on the bottom of our list for places to serve.  We had prepared our hearts for the other side of the world, but God was quickly changing our direction.   Guatemala was too...

Work for It!

Several years ago, we came face to face with the reality of our teenagers having to choose between school and work.   Some of them would need to finish the eighth or ninth grade and then find a job to financially help the family.  Of course, we believe in education or a trade school to...

The Teal Door!

Very few people know my obsession with the doors in Antigua.   They are beautiful and unique.  I really don’t know why I love looking at all of the doors, and I never talk to others about doors (not the most exciting conversation starter).   There is a restaurant on the outside of Antigua where...

Build the Church!

Set up the chairs.   Set up the tables.  Take down the tables.  Rearrange the chairs.  Repeat.   Every Wednesday.  Every Sunday.  Every School Devotion.  Every Special Activity.   Twelve years ago, Grace Ministries built a feeding center for the children in our community.   From the feeding center program, a church was birthed.   At the time, we shared the building to serve the 40 children in the afternoon...
