By the end of 2025, Grace Ministries will have helped provide homes for 300 families in need. In a country with so many challenges, one of the most common questions we hear is: How do you decide which families receive a house?

The Process of Choosing Families

Our pastor, Adan, works closely with local pastors and government officials in remote areas to carefully investigate each family’s situation. Over the years, Grace Ministries has developed strong relationships with trusted pastors and church leaders who truly know the needs of their communities.

Once local pastors identify potential families, Pastor Adan and a liaison personally visit every home. During these visits, they evaluate living conditions and ensure that the family meets our specific requirements for receiving a house. Pastor Adan then shares each family’s story and their particular need with a Grace Ministries team member. Together, the decision is made who receives the construction of a house.

After approval, the houses are built by mission teams staying at Grace Mission House, transforming prayers into concrete acts of love.

Strengthening Churches and Communities

Ideally, we partner with local churches because one of our greatest goals is to strengthen the church in every community. I vividly remember one young pastor—excited and nervous—as he helped us find families in need. For him, this ministry was completely new. Yet, as homes were built, he saw how the project built trust between the church and the people.

He understood that the ultimate purpose of building houses is not only to provide shelter—but to make and disciple followers of Christ.

In some areas where there isn’t an established church, we collaborate with local government officials instead. And that’s perfectly fine—because at every house dedication, the Gospel is shared.

Reaching the Forgotten

We travel as far as the team is willing to go to meet the needs of families. Often, the farther we go, the greater the need. I’ve personally been to every small community in the state of Tecpán. Some trips took us so deep into the mountains that I wondered if we’d ever find our way out again!

There have been times when communities only allowed us to enter because of our local connections. Yet every time, we’ve been met with gratitude. Many families tell us they felt forgotten—until a team showed up to build their new home.

Thank You for Building Hope

To every person who has built a house for a precious family—thank you!

For only $550, you’ve provided a “casita” that keeps out the rain and offers a dry floor for little feet. Your gift is more than a house—it’s a testimony of God’s love that reaches far beyond the walls of the home.
